Dr. Karl Miller

Gastric Bypass Testimonial:

The staff of Dr. Miller in Austria exhibited the utmost in professionalism. I felt very cared for and comfortable from the 1st step into the office. Dr. Miller was very thorough in his explanation of the surgery and the expectations for treatment. My spouse who was initially very apprehensive even had his fears put to rest when he met and spoke with Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller was very patient and answered all of his questions. I would recommend the surgery to anyone who has researched the procedure and is fully aware of
the advantages and disadvantages and is prepared to commit to a new way of life. My personal experience has been fantastic I have loss 70lbs to date and am hoping to lose 30 more by December 2005, which will be 1 year since my surgery. I am able to eat normally and maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet. I do not have any health problems and I look forward to continued success.

Gastric Bypass Testimonial:

I have always been overweight, from a very early age.  I continued through my teens into my forties and finally got to my heaviest of 415 pounds at the age of 50. My doctor had already warned me that I was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure, and a hereditary weight condition, and I was classed as morbidly obese and that if I didn't lose weight I could be dead in a couple of years. I had tried every diet in the book throughout my life. Things finally came to a head when I realized drastic action needed to be taken, as only being married to my wife for six years and now blissfully happy, I owed it to myself and my wife to lose the weight. I researched the website for information on the gastric bypass, and found Surgicalteam.com. I received the relevant information and the initial form for completion online. This I immediately returned. I was then offered a date for the operation.

On arrival in Salzburg, on a Monday, I went to the clinic run by Dr Miller's wife and team for the initial tests. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, and the clinic itself was extremely modern (not like in the UK). Tests completed, I then made my way to the hospital. I met Dr Miller who sat and explained in great detail about the operation. (My wife was also staying with me in the same room, which was company for me) and received five star treatment. Next day, I had the operation, and apart from a little discomfort felt extremely well and my life had been preserved for some more years to enjoy things that I have not done or could not do in the past due to the excessive weight. My life was now on a new path. I sat wondering about being able to get clothes to fit and that now I would be able to eventually bend over to tie shoe laces, and the way my life would alter. After spending the night in ICU (no problems, just precaution) I returned to my room to rest and recover. Next day I was up and about and doing some gentle walking down the corridor. I was told by the Dietician what foods to eat and what to avoid, and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.  I spent a further couple of days in a hotel in Salzburg with the view of doing some sight-seeing, but this proved not to be, due to feeling a bit too tired. Even a gentle stroll left me exhausted.  My operation was on the 12th April 2005, and to date (October 2005) I have lost a total of 126 pounds, and am feeling very well indeed.

I  would like to thank Jonas for his support, and continuing contact with me,  Doctor Miller and his surgical team for the professional care, knowledge and expertise with this medical procedure, and for changing and saving my life.

AGB Testimonial:

I am back home and learning how to eat properly. I think everything is healing up pretty nicely and I just have a little pain left. My experience was great (as far as a surgery can be great). Dr. Miller was very nice and reassuring and his wife was lovely. The hospital and nurses were fantastic also. Thanks so much to you also, I don't know for sure if I would have gone through with the surgery so quickly if you had not have been so helpful. I plan to go back in about 6 weeks for a first fill. I really feel like I have been given a chance to change my life in so many healthy ways. For that, I am very thankful!

Dr. Pablo Zorilla

Gastric Bypass Testimonial:

A little over two years ago I had gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Zorrilla in Monterrey, Mexico. It was the best decision of my life. I was depressed and full of anger and self pity. Dr. Zorrilla and his staff changed all that. I have now lost over 70 pounds and have gained back my self confidence and respect. He speaks little English and I speak little Spanish. I do not remember any of the nurses speaking English. With smiles and hand motions we were able to communicate. Even though we could not talk, I always felt that
each and every one of them cared for me. I couldn't have been better cared for.  Everything went off without a hitch.  The hospital is old but has been redone. Everything was fresh painted and clean as could be. No frills. I did not care, I just wanted to get some of the ugly fat off. I have not lost as much weight as I want to. I have not exercised like I should have and I snack. I just look so much better that I feel beautiful. Dr. Zorrilla gave me my life back. I would do it all over again and recommend it to everyone who feels that fat has consumed them. If anyone wishes to ask questions, I will be happy to email with you.

Dr. Jaime Ponce

AGB Testimonial:

A life-time of obesity was leading me to an early death.    I was at an age that the ravages of being fat were beginning to take a medical toll.  At 272 pounds I had developed diabetes, heart disease, and kidney dysfunction.   No amount of “will-power,” “dieting,” or “good intentions” was enough to help me lose and more importantly keep the excess weight off.   After careful research and consideration, I had the adjustable laparoscopic band placed in late November 2000.  I have lost 90 pounds and no longer take any medication for diabetes.  This wonderful tool has allowed me to lose weight at a comfortable pace without hunger.   The band and support from the surgeon and his office has also promoted a behavior change to include healthier choices and more exercise.  This has led to a healthier life style that has allowed me to take greater advantage of work, family, and fun because… now I can!

AGB Testimonial:

I have been overweight all my life and remember being teased even in first grade.  But I was lucky that I had the “pretty face, great personality and was really smart”.  I started dating my husband when I was 16 and we married at 20.  But when we began trying to have children four years later, I found out I had Type II diabetes.  At 30 years old, 270 lbs., and a year of fertility treatment, I was pregnant with twin boys.  When they were 23 months old, I gave birth to a surprise baby boy.  I started using insulin during the first pregnancy and overtime the usage increased drastically.  The second pregnancy was worse; my insulin usage continued to increase, I had swelling, and developed a heel spur so bad I could hardly walk and I reached 400 lbs.  All I did was work full time and take care of children but I couldn’t care for them the way I wanted.  I wouldn’t take them out because I couldn’t keep up with them and I never felt like playing because it was all I could do to meet their basic needs.

I knew for my health, mental status, and my children’s future I had to do something but no amount of dieting was helping and I couldn’t exercise for physical limitations.   I began researching weight loss surgeries.  After careful consideration and a lot of prayers, I had the adjustable laparoscopic band placed late December 2000.  The band has let me loose weight without hunger and fast enough to stay excited and the continued support from the surgeon's office has prompted other lifestyle changes.  As of January 2002, I have lost 125 lbs., I am no longer on insulin, my other medications have decreased and my feet no longer ache because of the heel spur.   I am enjoying LIFE so much more.  My father and husband are both obese and because of the changes they have seen in me, both have had the LAP band surgery.  I am not yet to goal and it may take awhile, but I loved what my son said the other day.  We were talking about opposite words like old-young, tall-short, and big-little.  He looked at me and said “Mommy, you were BIG, BIG; now your just a little big and a lot more fun!  I started to cry as I told him that I may never be little-little but I hope to be even more FUN!

AGB Testimonial:

I've battled with my weight since age 12.  I constantly tried new diets, always with failure.  My health was going downhill rapidly.  Now, I finally have the control I could never achieve, because I now have the right tool for the job.  I'll never have to fight this losing battle again and my health problems have completely resolved themselves.  I've never felt so energetic and alive.  My life is mine again and I live it to the fullest.

Hope this helps!!!

Dr. Shrihari Dhore-Patil

AGB Testimonial:

" I lost 106 pounds within 12 months and got rid of my high blood sugar within three months. I suffered from many ailments like eczema and intertrigo and was hospitalized for it. Now I look good and feel good both physically and mentally. It's been new lease on life for me. As I was psychologically depressed earlier and not very physically active, my job and family life suffered a lot. Dr. Dhore-Patil is the greatest boon to obese people like us."

Dr. Carlos Casalnuovo

AGB Testimonial:

We have sometimes heard to somebody say “I just lived again” when somebody saves his life in a great accident or similar thing, thanking God for a new opportunity. Personally, on September, 1999 I said “I just lived again”, but in my case it was not for an accident, I said that because the life (until that moment) had condemned me to fight against the obesity.

It is an unequal fight, almost with knowledge of the results, we need hope, sacrifice, faith and in most of the cases the hope vanishes, the sacrifice doesn't work and the faith becomes depression when we see that there are not results and the gap in the expectation is reduced every day, becoming us in permanent sick people.

My family, especially my husband and my daughter, made possible the surgery, when I met Dr. Carlos Casalnuovo, and after the chats, studies, analyses, he told me, with the serenity that occupies the knowledge... I want to operate you on September 13, and starting from there you will start to get well. Thereafter, I knew that he gave me the opportunity to live as the life deserves to be lived. I didn't have doubts...

One year and half later, I had lost 62kg. and it had won a ton... (a ton of desires of being alive). If I have to comment the non positive things of the operation, some inconveniences exist, mainly in the new feeding habit in that we should resign a heap of things, but from already anything it is comparable to the the above-mentioned suffering. I understand perfectly that the bariatric surgery is an extreme solution, but exactly for who are in extreme situation.

Day by day I thank God, I am believer, to my family who gave me total moral and economic support, resigning other things, and to the Doctor, to who I consider that I will never be able to pay what he has made for me. His life, full with capacity and wisdom, is full with humility and vocation of bold work with us... the fat people to who today the science said “there is something for you that it will fill you....., but in this time of happiness."

AGB Testimonial:

Dear Doctor Casalnuovo:

I want to thank you and say how has my life changed from the bariatric surgery.

My weight was 142kgr, with a BMI of 50. I could not walk, I had diabetes, hypertension,  hypertrofia of heart left ventricle, dilation of left atrium, breathing problems, abnormal lipids, osteoarthritis, infertility,... and my list continues...

Today, the bariatric surgery has given me the opportunity to return to the life, a RIGHT of the OBESE ones as any other illness. I lost 32kg in 6 months, my heart reverted the hypertrofia, I can walk, I ride bicycle, and other exercises, I can decide how to live, but the most important thing, I am a FREE person.

All that I express is documented in papers, in my soul and in my body.

Thank you Doctor.

AGB Testimonial:

I had my bariatric surgery on August 6th, 1999.   It’s hard for me to find words that can really express what it is like to weight 306 pounds (139kg.) one day and after loose 196 pounds (81kg.), weighting for the first time (probably since I was 10 years old), 110 pounds (50kg.).  100 % satisfied?  To say at least!  Amazed, bewildered, ecstatic and very happy!   A new feeling of pride, and accomplishment, feeling comfortable with my body, was developed.  Not to mention my family’s peace of mind.

After dealing with overweight problems since early adolescence, after going through every diet that crossed my path and pills that never worked… well, it is probably known what I mean, losing 30 pounds with great effort and as soon as stop dieting you gain more than twice pounds. I lost my faith in treatments and simply stopped trying, I just gave up until I started to look for information about this surgery, when I found a solution for life to the problem of my life.  It was almost too good to be true… almost!  This one was real!

Still there are things that would be learned, even before surgery: how to chew!, to listen to your new stomach! and to know when you are full (which is very quickly)!.

There are a whole team of people to help you help yourself.  They want only our success.  Listening their recommendations until you learn to listen to your own body, is a great aid to accomplish your goal, at least it was for me.  Things that I consider to be  a very small price to pay, for the results that you obtain.

It is amazing to think that only 2 years ago I would think twice before sitting in a plastic chair for fear to break it.  Or that I wouldn’t go horse-back riding because I thought it would look stupid to see a cow mounting a horse (not to mention cruelty to animals).  Fitting into a regular size of jeans is not a miracle or even a challenge, every day occurrence.

I don’t feel guilty if I want an ice-cream or to eat a chocolate.  I don’t starve and crave, so maintaining my new weight is easy and I don’t have that constant fear to start gaining weight as I did when I was dieting.  For the first time in my life it is actually under MY CONTROL, and it feels AMAZING!
