Dr.
Benenati joined the Miami Cardiac &
Vascular Institute in 1989 after serving
as assistant professor of radiology and
surgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical
Institute, where he also completed a
fellowship in cardiovascular and
interventional radiology.
Previously, Dr. Benenati spent four years
from 1984 1988 at Indiana
University Medical Center Hospital where
he completed his radiology residency and
a fellowship in vascular
radiology. Dr. Benenati is
currently the Medical Director of the
Peripheral Vascular Laboratory at the
Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute
and is the Director of the Fellowship
Program. Dr. Benenati is active in
numerous clinical research projects in
the areas of treatment of peripheral
vascular disease including abdominal
aortic aneurysm repair with endografts,
the use of stents in peripheral vascular
disease, methods of prevention of
restenosis in the femoral and popliteal
arteries including brachytherapy and in
tumor embolization including uterine
artery embolization for the treatment of
fibroids. He has authored or
co-authored numerous scientific articles
that have been published in medical
journals including the Journal of the
American Medical Association, Radiology
and the Journal of Vascular &
Interventional Radiology among
others. Dr. Benenati is a fellow in
the American Heart Association and in the
Society of Cardiovascular &
Interventional Radiology. He has
been very active in lecturing at
scientific meetings throughout the United
States as well as abroad. He is a
