Dr. Thomas Szegö, a former Full Professor of Surgery in
Santo Amaro School of Medicine, has one of the largest
experiences in laparoscopic gastric bypass in South America,
having performed over 700 laparoscopic gastric bypasses. He was
also the first surgeon to perform a laparoscopic cholecistectomy
in South America. He was the founder of the Brazilian and Latin
American Societies of laparoscopic surgery. He is one of the
leading surgeons of Brazil.
